Precious Ojewusi |
My name is Precious Ojewusi, hailed from Ifetedo, Fadeyi Compound, and Ogboru Compound in Ile-Ife, Osun state.
There were lots of history around my birth that made me believe I had a purpose to fulfill on earth.
I attended Baptist Primary School, Omitowoju Inalende, Ibadan, proceeded to Onireke High School in 1992. I left for Ayangbeku Memorial Grammar School in Ile-Ife Osun, State while I was in JSS 3 and finished my secondary school education there.
I gained admission in 2001 to Federal College of Education Special, Oyo to study computer science education/ rehabilitation of visually impaired.
I am actually a well trained teacher. I taught for three years before going to the college of education. Meanwhile, I knew I was going to end up as a farmer right from childhood because I didn't like hunger at all.
I have traveled to some countries in Africa and outside Africa to learn few things about agriculture, which as helped me when I implement it. However, I have also worked with couples of people in agriculture, I also did trainings with
International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), worked with vegicity, ivory garden, faming life and so many other companies.
I established my farming business in 2017 with three acres of land, started with plantain plantation, tomatoes, pepper, corn and cassava, and it was a smooth experience.*
What motivated you into farming?
Like I stated earlier, I disliked to see people suffering (especially from hunger) because I believe even if anyone lacks good clothes or good education, that should not stop them getting to eat good food, basically food life.
Back then, I started thinking of how I could contribute my own quota to the society to help make things better and I had the thought that if people (I mean everyone) go into agriculture food scarcity would reduce because agriculture is the only source of getting good food.
How long have you been farming?
I have been in the agricultural feed since 2015
How do you build up personal relationship with clients?
Follow up matters most, creating any relationship weather personal or not you need constant follow up.
What are your plan in five years to come?
Machinolar Integrated Company Limited (MICL), should be listed among leading companies that produces, processes, packages and distribute food at affordable prices in Nigeria and Africa because I love to feed Africans. We are currently working on a new set of farming in some African countries like Uganda, Ghana and Burkina Faso.
What are the three things that makes you happy?
Acquiring properties (most especially farmlands) because we believe in multiple production that can help reduce food insecurity in nigeria and africa.
Being able to help people in the little way I can. Harvesting periods (in agriculture).
What are the three things that makes you sad?
Children loitering around when their mates are in school, dishonesty and lack of interest in investing in specific areas of agriculture ( i.e Seedlings and farming machineries) by africa and nigerian government.
Who is your role model and why?
I don't think I have a role model, atleast for now. Reasons being that a role model is a person whose behavior, example, or success is emulated or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.
Of course, there are lots of great people who inspire me and motivate me to do more, but I do not like to emulate anyone, basically agriculture is everything to me.
