He spoke to TUNDE ESO on his project plans and missions to serve his constituency.
Let’s meet you?
Olawale Akerele popularly known as (Water) was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Joseph Akerele a core Ijesha man of an enviable pedigree of Loro Ijesha Chieftaincy Dynasty. I had Ordinary National Diploma in Banking and Finance at The polytechnic Ibadan, Nigeria then proceeded to study Bachelor of Science in Political Science, at National Open University of Nigeria.
I'm the Chief Executive Officer of Akelad Olad Multidynamic Company, also a member and President elect 2023/2024 of rotary club of Ilesa; happily married and blessed with promising children.
What’s your manifesto?
Effective legislative representation on issues affecting youths, local security and environmental condition will be of top priority. All necessary legislations that will promote and improve Osun State education, agriculture and economic prosperity shall be given enough attention.
As an aspirant for the Osun State House of Assembly, what do you plan to do differently if you win?
By God's Grace, If elected as a member of the House of Assembly, I will uphold effective representation of my constituents at the legislative branch of Osun State government. I will achieve this by effective engagement of various interest groups that form Ilesa west State constituency which I will be representing. Loads of work are there undone in almost all ramifications of governance which are on health, education, social amenities and most importantly, local security need to be prioritized. I will achieve a better difference by involving the good people of Ilesa west state constituency, and most especially, the youths in the act of representation. I believe by this my constituent would not in any way regret their overwhelming support for me in particular and my party in general.
Do you think PDP can win the 2023 presidential election?
My party has been working so hard since its national convention that produces its presidential candidate in person of the His excellency Atiku Abubakar who had engaged different interest groups and Nigerians both home and abroad. it's to show how prepared the party is to lift the country out of the unprecedented precarious situations we find ourselves since the reign of the incumbent government.
Precarious in terms of economic misfortune and general insecurity that ravages the country. People"s Democratic Party will seriously leverage on these aforementioned quagmires that have made life so difficult for the hapless Nigerians over the years. The recent electorate decision in the last Osun gubernatorial election represents the true feelings of the people. With these however, we will not relent on our oars to continue our yielding door to door campaign system. Meanwhile, most of our candidates are altruism's with impressive antecedents, therefore this will elicits our winning tendency.
What are your major plans for the youth?
Youth emancipation is the pivot of my legislative agenda. As you can see, myself is a good definition of youth. And probably the youngest House of Assembly member from my constituency by God's Grace. Therefore, if the youthful agenda is not prioritized throughout the span of my mandate, I should consider myself a failure because youthocracy is on board.
Perhaps, I have sponsored alot of training and empowerment for youths and even I, alongside with party stakeholders, coordinators are planing a great professional training across my local government.
And I'm sure we all need to be guided for our better tomorrow. We youths should see tomorrow as ours without minding the deceits from many of our unscrupulous leaders. We should get ourselves prepared for greater future leadership responsibilities and challenges by ensuring we strive enough to have education and at least a legitimate means of livelihood. With reference to the 16th American President, Abraham Lincoln, he said " I will study first and wait, and the opportunity will come" And of equal importance, must stay away from social vices, especially drug addiction. All these instructions are key to the desired beautiful future we are individually hoping for.
Who is your role model and why?
Honorable Ibukun Fadipe (IBK) is my role model for his magnificent role played in developing Ilesa west state constituency and his contributions to the Osun State politics and Nigeria at large. He has been my guide, tutor, inspiration:wonderful friend, teacher and mentor in all ramifications.
He has been showing me how to stand on my feet and face any challenges, I count myself lucky to have a mentor like him.
