Residents of Iwo in Osun state were on Wednesday thrown into an ecstatic moment as the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, launch the Imole mobile surgical medical outreach at the ancient town.

Like a new bride, the appearance of Governor Adeleke triggered a carnival-like sight as people of the town lined up the street to welcome the governor, who is cherished for his pro-masses tendency.

From Ori-Eru down to the popular Odo-Ori market, the shout of IMOLE rained the airwaves as the Governor had a hard time reciprocating with the outpour of love and support thrown at him by the crowd as he made his way to the General Hospital where the medical outreach is billed to hold.

At the General Hospital, Governor Adeleke arrived to the warm reception of huge crowd, who upon sighting the Governor, flared up in wild jubilation. The atmosphere got even more intense when the Governor stepped out of his vehicle, as crowd swarmed around him.

Speaking at the launch, Governor Adeleke said the medical outreach is in line with his philosophy that "it takes a Healthy Nation to be a Wealthy Nation", maintaining his administration's resolve to continue to invest resources in improving the health of the people.

"One of the ways we have thought to assist our people is to bring health care to their doorsteps. The current medical and surgical outreach aims at achieving this," Governor Adeleke remarked.

"The outreach is designed to take care of surgical cases such as Cataracts, Hernia and some swellings on the body.

We have also made provisions to take care of medical cases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria and lots more."

"The Government has provided adequate medications for this exercise and shall provide reading glasses for those that may require them.

"Our administration earlier last week approved the periodic payment of salaries owed to workers. We are therefore convinced that Our doctors and other health workers in the State are in a very high spirit. They are well motivated to ensure the success of this programme," he added.

Governor Adeleke said his administration will soon unfold a robust medical agenda for the people of the state, assuring the people of the government commitment to improving their conditions, especially by investing wisely in their healthcare needs.

"We are upgrading our health facilities. We are working on new ideas like telemedicine among others.

I commend all members of the Committee and health workers under the leadership of Professor Peter Babatunde Olaitan for their sacrifices in this call to duty," he noted.

Governor Adeleke proceeded to the Reality TV Station in Iwo, where he expressed dismay at the state of the facility. He lamented the glaring neglect of the facility, which houses a television and radio station, noting his administration's readiness to look into the resuscitation of the facility to drive benefits for the state and host community.
