10 Burnt To Death On Oyo-Ogbomoso Road
No fewer than 10 passengers were burnt to death on Oyo-Ogbomoso road on Thursday.
The occupants of the Mazda and Toyota Hiace passenger buses that collided head-on were burned beyond recognition.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) verified the occurrence.
Joshua Adekanye, the state's FRSC Sector Commander, reported that the incident happened around 5.30 a.m. on the Oyo-Ogbomoso road near Kilometres 12 Ijawaya.
He claimed that the buses bearing the license plates LEM 963 XA and NSR 222 ZS, respectively, were traveling from the states of Lagos and Nasarawa.
According to Adekanye, the cars caught fire right away, scorching the people inside.
He attributed the cause of the accident to speeding and overloading.
He called on motorists to always shun night travelling, speeding and overloading, adding that the fatality would have reduced if the drivers were not on night journey.
