Segun Commends, Supports Smart Adeyemi and Other Aspirants for their Stand on Kogi APC Guber Primaries
Report: Tunde Eso
The beauty of democracy is giving the people unbiased, uncoloured, and unmanipulated platform to chose their choice's of representatives for specified elective positions in government.
Thus in an election either primary or general, where the people's voices are muted, unheard, and neglected, democratic processing can be said to have been murdered. And it is nothing different from the picture painted of recently arguably primary election held by APC in Kogi state. irrespective of how it is being conceived by shenanigans and sycophants of government of the day.
The above is the submissions of Comrade Segun Amupitan, a one time former National President of the: National Association of Okun Students, and Okun Youth Development Association, who speaks on the alleged recently conducted gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressive Congress in Kogi state.
According to him, having see the press conference granted by the other four aspirants: Adeyemi, Ajaka, Shuaib, and Oseni, and also having sampled the opinions of some APC's ward Executives, he wished to stand by their positions, that a broad daylight heists of democracy was orchestrated by the Kogi APC's leaderships to submerge, cage, and subjugate the rights of the members and the aspirants to vote and be voted for. Under any disguises or conditions, if there is a derail from the constitutional approach in electoral process thereby leading to deprivation of direct participation of those concerned, democracy cannot be said to be established.
Ergo, the onus is on the National leaderships of the party to scrutinize the conduct of the alleged direct memberships voting process held across all the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi because, many good heads are better than one.
In additions, he added that the Chairman Electoral Committee, Alhaji Matawalle Bello, need to address the reasons for his unavailability to declare the outcomes of the election, which was unconstitutionally declared by his Secretary.
He commends those courageous aspirants for speaking to the matters of administrative irregularities, manipulations of results, and undemocratic products of a primary election.
He also opined that, it is undemocratic to criticize any of the guber aspirants, who speaks against perceptions of injustice and infringement on the processing. This is because, they reserved the rights to challenge any electoral process perceived to be faulty, as every conscious individuals or groups can.
Hence more, he said that he believes and supports the moves to challenge the process, and thumb up for the movers whom he described as defender of democratic culture and socialization.
