Egbedun, Ogundoyin call for United Front, as Oyo Speaker visits Osun, Pays Courtesy Call on Governor Adeleke

The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun and his Oyo State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin have jointly called on colleagues in the region to unite to develop the South West geo-political zone of Nigeria.
The duo made the call on Wednesday when the Oyo Speaker made a familiarity visit to his colleague in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Osun Speaker, who is also a member of the Caretaker Committee of the Conference of Speakers, said unity was needed in the geo-political zone to bring about rapid development.
He noted that unity of purpose and cohesion are very key in helping the zone to develop faster and fulfil the aspirations of the people.
Rt. Hon. Egbedun, who received his colleague in the company of some of his colleagues, among whom were the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, Majority Leader, Hon. Adewunmi, Hon. Bamidele Rasheed Lawal, Hon. Saheed Olumide Fatumise, Hon. Folorunsho Yemi Ogundare, Hon Tajudeen Adeyemi, Hon. Olujinmi Asagade, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye. Hon. Abiola Waheed Ibrahim and Hon. Adekunle Oladimeji also led their Oyo counterpart to the Governor, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, in his office at Bola Ige House.
According to Hon. Egbedun, "Osun and Oyo State Houses of Assembly will work together in the spirit of people's development. We will work together to enhance a robust legislative agenda that will bring about developmental plans for the people.
He also appreciated his colleague for the visit and urged him to sustain his agenda to unite the legislative institution in the zone.
Also Speaking, Oyo Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin congratulated Rt. Hon. Egbedun on his emergence as the Speaker of the Osun 8th Assembly. He stressed that the Osun Speaker had demonstrated capacity in just a few weeks since he assumed office.
He noted that his visit was to open a communication channel that would foster an exchange of ideas, innovations and unity which would enhance significant development in the region.
In his words, "I have never been here for the past five years that I have been in the Oyo State House of Assembly as member and Speaker. Our culture and language unite us more than the state separates us. Oyo and Osun share an existing relationship because we used to be one entity until when Osun was created. I appreciate my brother, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun and I believe our relationship will foster a relationship between the States Assembly, which will further strengthen the relationship among our people. This is a sign of good things to come for our people."
Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin commended the Governor of Osun for the giant strides he has achieved in a few months in office while urging the people of the state to continue to support the government for more developmental programmes. He emphasised that wherever there is light, darkness can not exist.
He concluded by applauding his colleagues in the Osun Assembly for the passage of the Osun Anthem, Crest and Flag Law, 2023, which reversed the descriptive name "State of Osun" back to "Osun State".
He later presented the Osun Speaker with a plaque, a hand fan and a talking drum.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin was accompanied by the Majority Leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin and Honourable Babajide Gabriel.
