Lagos PFN Secretariat Seal off: Mischief Makers at Work

By Bolaji O. Akinyemi.

My evening was taken away from me by concerned Christians and citizens alike who believe I must have information about the news that broke that Governor Sanwo-Olu Sealed Off PFN Secretariat! The news report was sent in by one Victor Oriola to "Newsnow" and was published online today,
July 11, 2023.

The report claimed that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the seal off of the secretariat of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, on Ikorodu Road!

It further stated, "Newsnow investigation revealed that the Christian body contravenes the 2020 renovation plans and other physical planning codes of the state". Though it promised to publish details later.

Aside the screaming headline, the news has nothing to offer the public than to feed on sentiments. Their claim to investigation before the report further undermines the professionalism of heads behind their news desk if what I read is a product of their so called investigation!

As expected, I put a call through to the PFN Chairman Apostle Enyinnaya Okwuonu, who was as shocked as the public on the choice of the embarrassing headline deliberately done to put His Excellency Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in the bad light before Pentecostals and the general public in Lagos State.

Investigation I conducted revealed that the premises was sealed late last night, as staff of PFN were still at the office till as late as 9:00pm. Presumably the sealing must have been carried out at the middle of the night for whatever the reasons. Personally, I finger it was an insider job, who is that person that monitored the Staff till they left the office? Is it official to seal off a property at such an unholy hour? Is there an attempt to use the instrument of the state to take possession of the Secretariat and force the embattled PFN Chairman out of office?
Why is the office of the Governor always the choice of these mischief makers? Many questions begging for answers!

One clarity made by the Chairman of PFN is the exoneration of the Governor and his office from the saga whatever the case is. In Okwuonu's words, "it is mischievous for anyone to drag the respected person and office of the Governor into building development control routine when the structure in question is not up to four floors, which is required that such buildings must have direct approval of the Governor.

When I asked him further questions regarding the state of the documentation of the building, the Chairman referred me to the Director of Projects whom he said is in a better position to clear that with me. His interest for now, he said, is to let the public know that it wasn't the Executive Governor that sealed PFN Secretariat, rather it was done by the relevant agency saddled by law to responsibly do same. He assured that PFN as a law abiding organisation is already interfacing with the authorities concerned to get the issue resolved. He declined to answer more questions until he has met with his Central Working Committee!
