A Six Years Girl Delivers Speech on Drug Abuse in Lagos

Speech on Drug Abuse and Reduction at Lagos Youth Multi-Stakeholders Conference, Organized by The Coalition of Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) on 12th of July, 2023 by Empress Nmachi Iroegbu

Good day everyone, respected chief guest and all the comrades sirs.

I would like to say thank you for this great opportunity to say something about drug abuse and reduction.

My name is Empress Iroegbu and I am 6years old.

Nowadays drug abuse is a severe problem all over the world, and it's characterized by the compulsive use of drugs despite the negative consequences that may result.

Drug abuse can lead to physical, emotional and social problems and can even be fatal.

Drug is not a harmful substance itself, but some people misuse it in many ways, it's highly dangerous and can cause serious health issues if abused.     

In reality drug has many positive sides, it's known to serve as medicine or medication of many kinds of illness and chronic diseases, there are many kinds of drugs that help in the treatment of mental illness; it can be proved to be equally harmful if it's consumed without a medical advice of a professional, it will not take long to convert the consumption of drugs from an option to an abuse. 

Some people particularly teenagers and youths experiment with drugs just to portray a cool image in front of others. 

Not giving into peer pressure can and will reduce drug abuse.

Everyone feels sad, lonely, isolated, embarrassed, ashamed and unworthy and other negative emotions at various points in life, there's nothing wrong with feeling these emotions, the best way to deal with it is to learn how to properly process them and by learning a healthy coping mechanism etc.

It's our duty as responsible citizens of our dear country not to misuse drugs as it will cost our live.

Finally let's all say no to drug abuse and follow the rules and regulations of the Government agencies on drugs.
