Tour of Enugu State Housing Development Authority Facilities Across Enugu by the General Manager

In continuation of Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's charge to Heads of Ministries, Agencies and Parastatal, the General Manager, Enugu State Housing Development Authority, Mr. Gerald Asogwa and his top management officials commenced official tour of the authority's facilities spread across Enugu with an unscheduled visit to Zoo Estate.
Upon arrival, the General Manager expressed dismay over how bushy and unkempt the premises is, directing the facility manager to "act responsively and put the place in shape in line with the Development Authority's mandate and Enugu State Government under His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's avowed commitment to environmental cleanliness and safe climate for its citizens and residents alike.
The General Manager ordered the sealing up of an unapproved construction site within the estate. He was informed that the owners of the site have flagrantly disobeyed lawful order to stop work. He directed that the owners make themselves available to the appropriate office.
He further directed that the dilapidated Internal roads within the estate be given immediate facelift, while also directing the Director of Estate, to expedite actions on the replacement of all dysfunctional electric light bulbs and street lights to keep the estate lighted in the night.
He frowned at the manner the refuse dumps in the estate is being managed and directed the immediate relocation of one of such dumps which was wrongly sited at a very strategic location in the estate.
The Chairman of Zoo Estate Residents Chief Okey Goodluck Nwankwo expressed appreciation on behalf of the Residents, describing the visit as timely and a show of government readiness to improve the condition of the estate.
At the Coal City Estate, the General Manager's attention was drawn to a building that was converted to a warehouse as against the permit for a residential building. He promptly directed that a legal action be initiated against the offender, insisting that the administration will pursue its stand on due process to every logical conclusion.
He further directed that owners of the new constructions within the estate should come to the office with all their relevant approval papers or face immediate revocation.
At Loma Linda Estate, Maryland the General Manager bemoaned the disruption of the Estates aesthetics by building on open spaces that were reserved for other social uses, farming on open land spaces and also bushes growing unattended within the facility, directing that the facility manager be reached immediately for meeting.
From Loma Linda Estate, Maryland, the Team drove to Citadel Phase 1 where several observations were made. The Tour Team moved over to Liberty Estate where the GM was taken to a demolished facility housing a Gym, Swimming Pool, Shopping mall, and bar. The site according to a Housing Development Authority Staff had been relocated to other investors.
