My Role Model is Bill Gates-Quadri Ademola
Quadri Ademola, a young software expert, in his interview with TUNDE ESO, he spoke about what motivated him to excel as a software expert in Nigeria.
Can you share with us your background and how it has influenced your career in software development?
My name is Quadri Ademola and during my secondary school days, I often visited websites to find solutions to my assignments. After secondary school, I tried to understand how these websites were designed and discovered that ordinary individuals like me could also create websites. I started researching about computers and the internet through Google, I wasn't taught these in secondary school. I was always fascinated by technology and its potential to solve real-world problems. This fascination led me to pursue a career in Computer Engineering at a computer college, and later, I studied Computer Science at a polytechnic. This educational journey allowed me to continuously learn and innovate.
What motivates you to excel as a software expert, and how many organizations have you designed websites for?
My motivation comes from the desire to create impactful solutions that can improve people's lives. Till date, I have designed websites for over five organizations, ranging from small startups to large enterprises. Additionally, I have written numerous software applications for final-year students in various Nigerian Higher institutions.
What diverse roles or projects have you undertaken in your career?
Wow! I love your unique question, I have worked as a front-end developer, back-end developer, and full-stack engineer. I have also been involved in project management. Some notable projects include developing a scalable e-commerce platform, hotel management system, loan management system, face recognition for attendance system, computer-based software, an online e-wallet system, a school management system, and many more.
As a software expert, what impact do you believe your work has had on you and the people around you?
My work has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. It has enhanced my problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. For the people around me, my contributions have streamlined business operations, improved user experiences, and sometimes even opened new revenue streams for clients.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years, and what are your plans for achieving unique success in your field?
In the next five years, I aim to be leading a team of innovative developers on cutting-edge projects. I plan to achieve this by continuing to learn new technologies, mentoring younger developers, and staying at the forefront of industry trends.
With your goal to make an impact, what challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges has been keeping up with the rapid pace of technological change. I overcome this by dedicating time each week to learning and experimenting with new tools and technologies. Another challenge is managing client expectations, which I address through clear communication and setting realistic goals.
What advice would you give to the younger generation aspiring to enter the field of software development?
I would advise them to never stop learning and to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Building a strong foundation in coding and understanding the fundamentals is crucial. Networking and finding a mentor can also provide invaluable guidance and support.
What are three qualities you appreciate in people, and why?
I appreciate honesty, as it fosters trust and transparency. I value creativity, which drives innovation and unique solutions. Lastly, I admire resilience, as it shows determination and the ability to overcome obstacles.
Who is your role model, and how have they influenced your career?
My role model is Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft. I have always considered him a pioneer in software development, using many of his software products during my college days, such as Microsoft Office, Skype, and various Windows operating systems. His legacy reminds me of the significant impact one person can have on an entire field.
