Comrade Olalere Benedict, a student of Federal Cooperative
College, Eleyele Ibadan, Oyo State, is the Southwest Chairman of Congress of Nigeria
Youth (CONYO), a farmer and aspiring for the position of National President of
National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in the November 2019
Elections. In this interview with Findout Newspaper, he spoke on his intentions
to become the next National President of NAPS in the next November elections in
Nigeria.
What is your take on the closure of border?
For me, if there is no pain, there is no gain. I think the
time has come to develop our creative mind as a nation, to provide what we eat and
use as a Nation. China country is an example of that today. So, the closure of
the border will make every citizen to wake up to the reality of making Nigeria
great again.
You are vying for the national president of NAPS, what would
you do differently, if elected?
If elected as National President of National Association of Polytechnic
Students (NAPS), I am going to create enabling environment for linkage programs
for all polytechnic students, I am going to access the opportunity in the private
sector for uplifting of the polytechnic education in Nigeria. I will ensure we
create a reliable data base that will be effective than what we have as a
Nation, and this will enhance the involvement of private sector to contribute
to the polytechnic education and also help to reduce money spend on getting
expatriate to do some technical work in Nigeria, because I am in the race to
save NAPS.
Been a youth stakeholder in Oyo State, what is your take on
the newly appointed commissioners by Governor Seyi Makinde?
Honestly, I am of opinion that the best thing that has
happened to Oyo State which I am proud of in all ramifications in this
dispensation is the appointment of Comrade Fakorede Seun as Commissioner for
Youth and Sports of Oyo state Government, a 27years old vibrant youth, we
should remember that when you build the Youth, you are building the Nation, indeed,
Engr. Seyi Makinde is a builder and he has proof it again that Oyo is a Pace
setter in all ramifications.
Can you say that President Buhari has dispensed his duties well
in accordance to the provision of the available constitution?
The President is doing his best according to his capacity
which doesn't appear good to the Nation development, his best is not good enough,
the President need to gear up because Nigerian are still expecting the reality
of the Next Level Agenda
Who is your role model and why?
My role model is Prince Kazeem Eletu Odibo, why because he
rises from grass to grace. He has a large heart for humanity and love God
despite what he has faced in Life. I love him and want to be like him because is
a dangerous giver.
Do you think unionism is not a tool in the hands of the
current politicians?
Unionism is not a tool in the hands of politicians. I can
tell you that the union leaders now operate on self reliance, not going after politicians
as it used to be. Meanwhile, not all the politicians are bad. Comrades are
intellectuals that have best brain and can competeanywhere in the world,
Nigeria Comrade are not dull or Lazy. We have best brain.
We operate now on what we call Aluta with Sense.
