Assembly Clinic, Library To Receive Upgrade To Serve Purpose, says Osun Speaker

The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun on Friday visited the House of Assembly Clinic and the Assembly E-Library, promising members of staff that his leadership will provide all necessary support that will enhance the quality of medicare for the staff and members of the House of Assembly.

He said he will ensure that the clinic is well-equipped and staffed to an extent that it can extend its services to members of the public living in the community to foster community relationships.

The Speaker who was received at the clinic by the Chief Nursing Officer, Mr Oluwafemi-Adams and the Senior Nursing Officer, Miss Adebowale Abidemi, said the clinic needs an upgrade to fulfil the objective behind its establishment.

The House of Assembly Clinic was established to provide a 24-hour medical service for legislators, staff, legislative aides and their family members as well as visitors who might need medical attention while on the Assembly Complex premises.

The House of Assembly clinic has 3-bed capacity for inpatients and can take 100 outpatients a week.

Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun was conducted round the clinic and he interacted with the medical personnel on duty.

The medical staff requested the support of the leadership of the 8th Assembly in ensuring that the clinic is put to adequate use.

In the same vein, Mr Speaker stopped by to inspect the Assembly E-Library also inside the Assembly complex.

He was received by the Head Library, Mrs Adejoke Olaomo and the Executive Officer of E-Library, Mr Adeniyi Francis. 

Mrs Olaomo explained that the Library is not functioning because of a lack of internet facility, calling for the House leadership intervention to bring the facility to good use.

Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun assured them that he will liaise with the Clerk of the House to ensure that internet is provided and other equipment is fixed or replaced to bring the library to life. 

He noted that the Assembly Library should serve its purpose to the Members and staff of the Assembly as well as serve as a research centre for the students in the state.
