Nine female students who were abducted from the Federal University in Gusau, Zamfara State, have been successfully freed from captivity.
Jacob Hassan, father of one of the victims still held captive, confirmed the news during a telephone conversation with AIT News. The liberated students are currently in Abuja. Reports indicate that some of them have been able to speak with their parents, providing a sense of hope and relief.
The abduction took place on September 22, 2023, when suspected terrorists raided off-campus hostels near the Federal University, Gusau, kidnapping a total of twenty-four female students. While some were rescued earlier, twelve remained captive until this recent breakthrough.
